Grade 5
5th Grade Arts Block will cover:
Keyboarding - using software called Type To Learn 3 and Typin Time.
Microsoft Word - saving a file, saving to the schools network, changing the set up of a page, editing , formating, using tabs, inserting pictures.
Microsoft PowerPoint - students will learn to create a slideshow with pictures, transitions, animations, and music.
Internet - safety and search techniques.
Grade 6
6th Grade Arts Block will cover:
Microsoft Word - advanced - students will learn how to create a business letter, bibliography using the correct citations, manipulate pictures using clip art and word art and use tabs.
Microsoft Excel - students will learn to the basics of a spreadsheet progam. They will learn how to navigate, create basic formulas and graphs
Internet - safety and search techniques.
Grade 7
Microsoft Word - advanced Word Techniques: they will learn to create a bibliograpy, create a report.
MIcrosoft Excel - students will learn how the basics of Excel including managing columns, rows cells, formating a spreadsheet, and will create formula's and graphs.
Internet Research - students will learn how to efficiently use the internet to find information about various topics.
Grade 8
8th Grade- students will do a unit on careers.
- They will create a PowerPoint on what they want to do, live and earn when they get out of school.
- They will take a career survey and choose a career based on the results.
- They will find a salary for their career.
- Create a spread sheet and will enter in monthy or yearly costs for taxes, rent, groceries, car payment, fuel and cell phone.
- They will analyze their spreadsheet and write an essay on what they have learned.
- They will shop online and create a spread sheet that will total their clothing purchases calculate tax and give a grand total.
- They will watch a video that discusses credit.
- They will create a spreadsheet that will compare different methods of being paid.
